Betsy Johnson, non-affiliated candidate for governor of Oregon joined with others in support of a trauma center for the homeless including families with children, in 2020.

Multnomah County, Oregon was not in State Senator Betsy Johnson's district. This was state representative and Speaker of the House, Tina Kotek 's district, Tina, also, running for governor.. Tina was not there. Betsy Johnson was there.

The unofficial mayor of Hayden Island, Jeff Geisler (back left in photo) worked with others to get tours of Wapato Facility arranged where over a thousand people toured, who were delighted, were amazed on the 2 hour tour, at the movers and shakers who showed up. The energy, the laughter, the goodwill. State senator Lew Frederick at first resistant after a constituent told him what was unfolding, he looked into and also showed up for the Kick Off to give his support.

Stuart Emmons, architect, provided the blueprints for Bybee Lakes Hope Center. After sixteen years of government do nothing, hope sprang anew at the end of 2019.

The facility so large it was a 2 hour tour...yet people came, the community came wanting something good to happen for the traumatized homeless, the seemingly endless situation in Multnomah County.

The center creation had been well researched and organized, using valid data.

The tours were electric with the possibilities and kids had a great time. Fox 12 gave this little guy a card to come down and tour the Fox TV station.

Everyone was attentive to the story and the possibilities, the caring and goodwill was palpable. Finally after Portland media calling this a prison everyone saw, no bars, cells. The thought that Portland media made citizens think for 16 years that this was a prison, made people think what else has Portland media lied about? President of the Portland Police Union gave insight of what it was like trying to find help for the homeless on any given night in Portland.

Multnomah County government leaders mostly Democrat played fast and loose with people's money.

The official kick off event was in a building next to a building that Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury bought for $5-6 million dollars while never giving any support to the Wapato project.

Rest in Peace Jeff Geisler, the unofficial mayor of Hayden Island. You don't have to be an elected official to help get things done.
