“By their fruits they shall be known.” Ed Diehl's "fruits" on social media have been attacking Chris Dudley since he announced his run for governor of Oregon in January. Diehl's fruits on Facebook in their comments show themselves to be anti-family, anti-children, anti-protecting children, anti-good guys, anti-capitalism, anti-millionaires, anti-big donations, anti-sports, anti-big retail stores, anti-Portland and anti-tourism. Socialism's most telling aspects.
Many times Diehl's fruits just post Ed's name over and over again, sort of in a written Tourette Syndrome style of communication targeted at anyone attempting to have a fuller conversation about the election. Over and over again they are angry that Dudley kept his promise to his wife and children not to run again until the children were grown. What happened to Republicans being pro-family?
Some of Diehl's fruits pop in as well yelling that "Chris Dudley can't dribble!" Chris Dudley in the NBA in Portland was a center, not a forward. Only two centers in Dudley's time in the NBA were good dribblers.

Diehl's fruits show socialist ideology about Oregon by how they attack Chris Dudley, Oregon candidate for governor while leaving Christine Drazan and David Medina alone.
Along with the socialism concerns have been concerns of Diehl and some of his other support Republicans who are too tied into PDXReal X account which is headed up by a convicted sex offender, Jeff Church, who blocks Republicans who speak out against child sex abuse. They have given his wife, Angela Todd, a platform (here at Dorchester with Washington County Republican chair Gabe Buehler).
Diehl supporters are not doing GOTV for the tax measure nor for Ed Diehl the candidate for governor. So far, the 2026 turn-out is the usual low for a primary election. At 4.90% for Multnomah County.

- Jack Sikma (Sonics/Bucks) — The clearest example. Mobile for a center, could bring the ball up at times, and had excellent footwork and pivot skills that included effective dribbling.
- Alvan Adams (Suns) — Quick and agile; solid handle for transition and creating off the dribble relative to other bigs of the decade.
- Chris Dudley (active from 1987) was a defensive/rebounding specialist with limited ball-handling.

Diehl's fruits are angry that Dudley accepted $1 million from Phil Knight of NIKE, yet Christine Drazan accepted $1.5 million from Phil Knight in her 2022 run.
Retail closures including mall closures have been stunning in the Portland area since 2020. Diehl's fruits don't care about Portland. Lloyd Center Mall is now set to be demolished. 
Diehl's fruits protested on Facebook that Diehl knew "nothing" about it. Diehl is a German surname. 
"Major retail stores/chains that have closed or left downtown Portland (Oregon) in recent years (primarily 2022–2026, often citing retail theft, organized crime, safety, and declining foot traffic):
Rep. Dwayne Yunker posted a video as though Christine Drazan was conceding to Ed Diehl on the race. Yunker hasn't taken it down and Christina Drazan hasn't told Ed or Dwayne to take it down. - Nike Community Factory Store (longtime downtown location, operated since 1984) — Closed permanently after hundreds of shoplifting incidents. Nike cited deteriorating public safety.
- Nordstrom Rack (downtown location on SW Morrison) — Permanently closed in January 2026.
- Target (downtown/Galleria small-format store, plus Powell and Hollywood locations) — Closed in 2023, explicitly citing organized retail crime and shoplifting.
- REI (Pearl District flagship) — Closed in 2023–2024 after repeated break-ins and high theft; cited as having the chain’s highest break-in rate in two decades.
- Walmart (both Portland locations, including downtown-area impact) — Closed, with significant layoffs.
- CVS Pharmacy (SW Broadway/downtown) — Closed, with employees citing shoplifting.
- Broader downtown/mall impact: Pioneer Place Mall (once ~100 stores) is now a “dead mall” with ~20 remaining. Lloyd Center has seen massive vacancies leading toward demolition.
- Other chains like Starbucks have closed multiple Portland locations (including downtown-adjacent) in waves through 2025" - GROK research
Diehl's fruits protested on Facebook that Diehl knew "nothing" about it. Diehl is a German surname. Bridges in desert sales to Diehl's fruits should be high this next year if they really believe Yunker didn't get Diehl's approval. Diehl showed up at a Mexican Restaurant on May 5th after advertising he had an event going on. Diehl did so without getting permission. The owner and patrons were upset. All these Machiavellian ways including "Clawback" may be to keep the media cycle going with Diehl's name out there.
All these different aspects of Diehl's campaign brings to mind the Republican "dirty trickster" episodes during the Watergate era with Donald Segretti. Also, brings to mind the Oregon Democrats dirty tricks they did on Ralph Nader in 2000.

Hollywood phase: ~15-year career as 1st Assistant Director, Location Manager, Production Manager, and Line Producer (shows like 9-1-1, Grace & Frankie, Veronica Mars, American Horror Story, etc.). This period ran roughly through the mid-2010s to early 2020s. Grace & Frankie was a Jane Fonda/Lily Tomlin TV series. They claim that Diehl is not leading them in their fight, that they aren't taking any direction from Diehl in this now four month long daily fight regarding Chris Dudley on Facebook, but there is no fight from Diehl's fruits against Drazan except the one "Yunker" video.

DSA (Democratic Socialists America) are quite happy about their foray into Oregon politics, publicly posted this on Instagram in response to a Freedom Foundation billboard calling out the relationship:
“Seen on the way to Salem: a billboard from a far-right anti-union group called the Freedom Foundation proclaiming what we already know: that Oregon’s educator unions and DSA are in a committed relationship!”

Dorchester was started by Senator Bob Packwood, thus there tends to be individuals or groupings who sometimes pop up having issues related to sexual misconduct. 
"The Washington Post broke the story on Bob Packwood in November 1992 (initially 10 women), with follow-ups adding more. By the mid-1990s, 19–40+ women had come forward with allegations spanning 1969–1990. The Senate Ethics Committee (in a 1995 report) found substantial credible evidence of at least 18 separate unwanted sexual advances involving 17 women. Most victims were current or former staff members or individuals whose livelihoods depended on his influence."

It seems unlikely these ardent socialist Diehl supporters misread Diehl. "By their fruits they shall be known."
