A Snapshot of two Oregon Candidates for Governor in an Expanding Field
Stan Pulliam and Jessica Gomez espouse Love of Community and People
Stan Pulliam is the non-partisan mayor of Sandy, Oregon, in the state’s fastest growing city. Stan’s Campaign Slogan is Maybe Oregon needs a Mayor…for Governor.
Pulliam's slogan gives a perspective on a strong mayor who stepped up to the plate when citizens and businesses in Sandy approached him for support. Mayor Stan listened to his constituents then followed through as some saw in a forthright Constitutional and Bill of Rights manner. Pulliam called a duck a duck in holding current Governor Kate Brown to account and encouraged businesses to open.
Newer to the field is Jessica Gomez's, Medford Tech entrepreneur, life story would inspire youth taking stock of their future to learn from and emulate. Jessica’s life journey included homelessness but by age 26 years young, Jessica started her own tech company. While not having a campaign slogan a news article shows Jessica’s pondering future possibilities of what she might do as the top leader in Oregon:
·
“Gomez believes that Oregon is overdue for a
policy re-boot and will regain its footing through strategic planning and
investing. “We’ve been through tough times, endured devastating wildfires, a
global pandemic, and continuous rioting. It is easy to point fingers and
complain about failed leadership, but that accomplishes nothing,” said Gomez.”

Contrasting the two candidates via their Facebook pages, Pulliam’s pages show a boots-on-the-ground in the moment mayor and candidate for governor. A mayor and candidate unafraid to call a duck a duck, consistently reports on his journeys around the state and shows what he has been up to visually and narrative-wise. His dry observational sense of humor and his joy of life are reflected in his pages.
Social media is a good place for voters to go to get a read and profile on both candidates.

Gomez has fewer boots-on-the-ground taking-action moments to review on Facebook. In 2018 Jessica ran for the state senate. 2017 she was a legislative assistant to Sen. Alan DeBoer, R-Ashland.
Both candidates in their social media profiles evince love of life, family, friends, and community.
Oregon citizens are ready for some good vibrations as they return to life and review the history of Oregon in the last year and a half.
With a growing and expanding field of candidates for governor there will be much to review as voters decide who the next governor of Oregon will be.
